Something about Christmas..

This is something my friend send me through Email, i think it's quite interesting about it. So i decide to share it with everyone who read this...

The Story goes..

An old man with red and white clothing. A flying sleigh with eight reindeers. Ask even the little toddler those very icons, and it would be unanimously Santa Claus. The spirit of Christmas is once more nearing this close of yet another year. Christmas, for many, will be a season to indulge in the hopes begotten by the old man in red and white, his familiar Ho Ho Hos and the mystical avian sleigh plenteous and abounding with presents for this very season of giving.

But wait. What if Santa Claus isn’t that old man donning the reds and whites? And what if the flying sleigh isn’t that iconic representation of joy for children around the world? Will the world still rejoice unison every 25th December? Can Christmas still be that peaceful and full of sharing occasion that endears all beings? But in essence, can Christmas be celebrated without the celebrations?

In the true spirits of the birth of Jesus, Christmas is beyond doubt about our construction of its meaning. How do we exactly construe this occasion? A season lavished with the entrancing and enchanting lightings, generous with feast and gifts, swarming with excitement and ecstasy? Take all that away, can we still reconstruct and expound Christmas? Being pretty much a party animal all these years, this got me thinking when this was put across during a homily few weeks back. A few weeks later, while gazing under the crystalline of the Perth night skies, I saw light to the homily. Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ. New hope borne to the world. How simple yet overlooked. Maybe as we blend in with the sophistication of today’s world, as we race with one another in the hustle and bustle of our material pursuit, we may have complicated this simplicity of Christmas meant for us to construe.

Maybe the reason why Christmas has always emerged as THE festive of the year by Christians and non-Christians all over the world is perhaps it is the season for wayward hopes to be revived all over again. To many, Christmas has become the gateway to a fresh year, that one opportunity that occurs once in 365 days to start de novo. It is that time when we truly witness the Christmas spirit touching hearts, setting our out cold selves alight and ablaze with new hopes and aspirations. More so, it will be a season for reconciliation. What’s broken will be restored. What’s forged will be strengthened. Love will once be in the air. For many, it will be a time to rekindle that flame that has somehow dimmed over this course of the year. The festive of doves and flakes will be an attestation of the renewed hope for everyone. Maybe this is the kind of advent into the New Year the white dove was granted to bring to humankind, not laments the day after about hangovers and passing of Christmas holiday.

It took me too many spent Christmases but one momentous night to reach out to the real Christmas within me. The glitters and the glimmers that adorn Orchard Road. The streams of people and shoppers that are enthralled every now and then. Yet, how many of us among the partisan crowd out there are able to be spot that glittering and glimmering flame of hope in our hearts?

Well, hope you like it. Merry Christmas people..
